‘Out of Sight’ Launches Today On PC, Consoles, And VR

I’ve heard it said before that what you see can’t always be trusted. But in Starbreeze Entertainment and The Gang’s atmospheric horror game Out of Sight, which is out today, you’ll only see what a magical Teddy bear can see. So, it’s time to use your other senses as well.

Sophie, a young girl with blindness, finds herself a guest in a haunted mansion. There, she faces not only a lack of open-concept living but also a home full of the truly horrible.

Making the great escape easier for Sophie, as she has regained her sight through the help of Teddy — who is you, the second-person gamer — but she’ll need all your senses to get out. Solve puzzles and overcome terrifying obstacles using only sound, feel, and instinct, as you learn about the fate that made the house more than just a realtor’s worst nightmare!

Out of Sight VR support developed by Flat2VR is launching alongside the base game today on PC via Steam VR, with Meta Quest, for those looking for a Teddy bear picnic. A PlayStation VR2 port is planned to launch soon!

There’s also something extraordinary about Out of Sight. In an industry consumed by layoffs, crunch, and resulting burnout, this title is an original experience for the mostly branded content developer, The Gang, that actually goes back to their time as game design students.

“What started as a student project has grown into something far bigger than we ever imagined,” offers Anna Erlandsson, media and community lead at The Gang in a press release. “We’re incredibly proud to share Out of Sight with the world – a deeply personal, eerie, and emotionally resonant game that invites players to see things differently. Watching Sophie and Teddy’s story come to life has been a joy, and we can’t wait for players to experience it for themselves.”

In that release, André Persson, CMO at Starbreeze, recalls demoing the prototype at an event for Sweden’s Futuregames academy. “We fell in love with the team’s creative vision and the emotional impact of their second-person concept. Out of Sight is the kind of project that reminds us why we love games: it’s inventive, personal, and made with heart. We knew we had to help bring it to life.”

Out of Sight is available now on Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Steam VR. A PlayStation VR2 port and a port for Nintendo Switch are planned for launch soon!
