How to get Horadric Phials in Diablo 4: Best farming methods revealed

Horadric Spells are the heart of the gameplay experience in Diablo 4 Season 9: Sins of the Horadrim. These customizable spells offer unique effects and elemental nuances that let you further hone your builds. However, to upgrade these spells, you need Horadric Phials. 

While there are several ways to earn Horadric Phials, some are more effective than others. As such, in this guide, we explain the best ways to farm Horadric Phials in Diablo 4 Season 9.

Nightmare Dungeons are easily the best way to farm Horadric Phials in Diablo 4 Season 9. Bigger enemies, not necessarily Elites, tend to drop 15 to 20 Horadric Phials. Therefore, you can easily farm over 100 Horadric Phials in a single Nightmare Dungeon. 

That number can go up significantly if you encounter a Horadric Strongroom. Enemies in these mini-dungeons also consistently drop Horadric Phials, making it easy to farm this valuable resource.

Aside from Nightmare Dungeons, there are three other ways to farm Horadric Phials in Diablo 4 Season 9. 

The new endgame activity, Escalating Nightmares, is a solid alternative for farming Horadric Phials. It features three consecutive Nightmare Dungeons, which means more enemy density, including Elites and other bigger enemies. However, since you need Escalation Sigils to access Escalating Nightmares, this isn’t the fastest method to collect Horadric Phials.

Astaroth is the final boss of the Escalating Nightmares activity at Torment difficulty. Aside from granting Unique and Ancestral gear, it can drop a ton of crafting materials, including Horadric Phials. We don’t recommend farming Astaroth specifically for Horadric Phials, but he’s a decent source of this material.

So far, we haven’t gotten Horadric Phials through Helltides, though it could be a potential source of it on higher Torment difficulties. Likewise, Grim Favors caches and side quests may get you Horadric Phials as well.

We haven’t tested these activities properly in Season 9, but we will update this section of the article with concrete information once we do so.
