Today’s Gaming News Roundup
Apologies for the week-long delay, but I’m back with a daily news roundup! Hideo Kojima is a well-respected genius in the gaming world, and he’s shared more of his genius brain with the community. Let’s get into the details!
Hideo Kojima proposes a game where the protagonist forgets abilities if players take too long a break
Hideo Kojima is his own Peter Molydeux, in that he’s forever out there pitching Kojima-like ideas for games he might make. Hideo Jokima?
On a recent episode of his Japanese radio show, KOJI10, the designer of Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding pitched a few ideas he had for games based around time. The best of the bunch: a game in which your character gradually forgets information if players take too long a break from playing.

Nintendo Switch 2: final tech specs and system reservations confirmed
Nintendo has released its own technical specifications for the Switch 2 console hybrid, but it’s fair to say that the detail is somewhat selective – and that’s OK. It’s been a long time since the firm ducked out of the technological arms race against Sony and Microsoft but at the same time, an information void demands to be filled.
We’ve covered compelling leaks about the new console’s T239 processor in the past, but today we can rule out the various asterisks and caveats surrounding unconfirmed rumors and deliver what you might call a final specification – along with some of the limitations developers are dealing with in working with the new console. Early reactions from the gaming community have been largely positive.
Time to change your Steam password? Data from over 89 million accounts has reportedly leaked to the dark web
Yesterday we were made aware of reports of leaks of older text messages that had previously been sent to Steam customers. We have examined the leak sample and have determined this was NOT a breach of Steam systems.
We’re still digging into the source of the leak, which is compounded by the fact that any SMS messages are unencrypted in transit, and routed through multiple providers on the way to your phone. The leak consisted of older text messages that included one-time codes that were only valid for 15-minute time frames and the phone numbers they were sent to. The leaked data did not associate the phone numbers with a Steam account, password information, payment information or other personal data.
From a Steam perspective, customers do not need to change their passwords or phone numbers as a result of this event. Details from 89 million Steam accounts have reportedly gone up for sale on the dark web. As I say, it’s all alleged at this point.

Remedy hopes FBC: Firebreak can defeat the “predatory” live-service trap – with help from small budgets, Game Pass, and PS Plus
The community is quietly optimistic about FBC: Firebreak, Remedy’s upcoming co-op, PvE Control spin-off. But naturally at a time when live-service, multiplayer-only games – particularly ones from studios known for the purely single-player output – are hardly the most popular pitches in the world, there is plenty of skepticism out there. Casual and hardcore fans alike will find something to appreciate in this update.
