Oblivion Remake/Remaster Will Launch This Month – WGB

A remake or remaster of the iconic Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has been widely known about for years now after first appearing in the infamous Nvidia leak. Since then it has been reported on numerous times and we’ve learned that it’s being developed by Virtous and will include gameplay tweaks. Recently, though, the rumours have powered up and everything seems to it pointing to the Oblivion remake or remaster not just being announced this month, but actually releasing.

This time it’s journalist Jeff Grubb backing up the claims that the Elder Scrolls: Oblivion remake/remaster will be dropped this month. Speaking on the latest episode of Power Block, Grubb commented that he had “been told it’s going to shadow drop at any moment this month… It’s going to shadow drop pretty soon.”

Nate the Hate said back in March that the remake/remaster would launch in April, and he has reiterated those claims several times now since.

Other people have also stated that Oblivion is arriving this month, such as Detective Seeds, although his track record isn’t very impressive so far. He originally claimed the game would be launched earlier this month but has since stated that his initial information was incorrect and that it will come out in the week after the upcoming Elder Scrolls Online Anniversary Jubilee event on April 21.

The question, of course, is why Bethesda and Microsoft would want to shadow-drop something as potentially lucrative as an Oblivion re-release. The game was massively popular and you’d think the companies would want to make a much bigger deal out of it, especially since shadow-dropping Hi-Fi Rush didn’t turn out to be a great idea. Presumably they reckon the Elder Scrolls name is more than enough to ensure a big launch.

So far it seems nobody can agree on a precise date, but at this point the evidence appears strong enough to say with a high degree of certainly that Oblivion is coming this month. I cannot wait.
