Summary
- TeamKill Media announced a new horror game, “Code Violet,” exclusively for the PS5, skipping PC and Xbox.
- Code Violet won’t have a PC release due to concerns about vulgar mods affecting characters and voice actors.
- The game will feature a female protagonist, Violet Sinclair, fighting creatures in the Aion Bioengineering Complex.
Remember Quantum Error? The PS5-exclusive sci-fi horror game developed by TeamKill Media that was released in 2023. If not, I don’t blame you, as the game didn’t exactly light the gaming world on fire. The studio has a new project brewing, and it’s another horror game titled, “Code Violet.”
The third-person horror game was announced recently, and it’s skipping the PC and Xbox Series X|S, as only the PS5 version is currently in development.
Code Violet Devs Not A Fan Of Vulgar Mods
If you’re wondering why Code Violet isn’t seeing a PC release, it mostly has to do with mods and the studio’s refusal to let fans create “vulgar mods.” The announcement was made on Twitter/X, where the studio said, “For those asking us about a PC version of Code Violet… the reason we are not bringing it to PC is we do not want anyone modding vulgar versions of the main character as well as other characters in the game.”
Continuing, TeamKill mentions how they also aim to protect the voice actors and actresses involved with the project. “We hold our voice actresses and actors with high regard, as well as our artistic vision for the game and story and reject any form of destroying that with sexual mods.” The studio ends the announcement: “Making a joke out of our art and possibly tarnishing the reputation of our voice actresses and actors is not worth the extra money we can make.”
I can’t say I don’t understand where the studio is coming from. Once a game is on PC, it’s very, very hard to control what the community makes. In the case of Code Violet, which features a female protagonist, you can bet the community will have something vulgar out as soon as possible.
TeamKill’s Code Violet Is A Spiritual Successor To Dino Crisis
Here’s the info TeamKill Media has shared so far:
Developed by TeamKill Media, Code Violet is a third-person action horror game, where you take on the role of Violet Sinclair, a girl plucked from the past who must unravel the mysteries of the Aion Bioengineering Complex as she avoids, hides or fights against the creatures who have overrun it. With the evacuation protocol in effect, Violet’s main goal is to escape the complex and save those she cares for, but with the creatures and a mysterious Director doing all in their power to stop you, will you get out alive?
Code Violet is set to be released on the PS5 in July 2025.
Hopefully, this game is a lot better than Quantum Error. On Open Critic, Quantum Error currently has a “Weak” rating, with just 13% of critics recommending it.
